The coldest and most exposed corner of Blacka is likely to be the top of Thistle Hill in the pasture. Not far behind must be the small car park at the north west corner close to Stony Ridge. This also has the dubious merit of being the least welcoming spot (with the possible exception of Sheffield Wildlife Trust's barbed wire fence). Full marks then to the brave wild flowers pushing their way through the rough grass banking up to the A625. These are the admirable coltsfoot, always among the first to come through in March.
The rest of this spot earns less praise. It has become a regular practice for sundry characters of easy virtue to use such easily accessible spots for whatever they get up to in their cars at night. Those of us who arrive early in the morning don't need much qualification in detective work to draw our own conclusions.
