Stag Party

One of the quietest stag do's ever. In the early light they were standing hardly moving. Four of them. I didn't find out where the others were. Later as the sun bathed the shrubbery they settled down to indulge in some sleepy body warming, eyes half closed.

The party of hinds were over the hill looking as if they had just roused themselves.

The sun blessed us in the hills, better than yesterday's foggy start. Then the stags were slowly wandering through the woods and bracken where they've made several tracks. Following one of them the powerful smell is inescapable.

It comes from the recent presence of wild, unwashed, warm bodies. This is their usual sleeping quarters. But today they prefer another place.

Maybe when the antlers drop and it becomes easier to roll on their backs it will be time for the annual bath? Just a suggestion.
