Young and Old

Young birds just out of the nest don't always resemble their parents. By July these juveniles may be wandering around in company with supervising elders. The latter may have been keeping out of sight when going back and forth with provisions. 

Now then is the chance to see them. No longer using the nest means they themselves are more relaxed about being in the open. They also need to announce their presence to the still dependent young birds. So easier to see the adult birds. The Stonechat is one of the easiest. Is this a Whitethroat with young?

 

 Hinds were about earlier in the week, without young. But this morning's deer looked to be yearlings enjoying the lush vegetation around the bog.
